About Me

Born in Mymensingh, Bangladesh to proud parents, Dr. Reza Khan and Mrs Nurun Nahar Huda, I came to the UAE in 1984 with my parents at the age of six. I completed her schooling from St. Mary's Catholic High School with distinctions and went on to join the University of Wollongong in Dubai as a student of Computer science in 1997. I completed my Bachelor degree and was immediately recruited as a teaching assistant in 2001. I then went on to complete my Masters degree in International Business Management with distinction in 2004 from the same University.  have been a lecturer at the University since 2004 and r ecently completed my PhD doctoral thesis from UOW Australia under full fee-waiver scholarship. I have been involved with restructuring syllabi and curricula development within my faculty since 2004.

Among other things, my passion has been my love for my country and I have been consistently involved in community awareness programs within and out of the University in publicising various contributions of Bangladeshis to the local community, helping integrate the expat and student body to blend together. I helped and encouraged students to start the Amra Notun Bangladesh Expat Student Association at University of Wollongong in Dubai which has been very successful in hosting numerous events involving Bangladesh's art, music, seasons, new year and independence, among others.

I continue to teach at the University and help my community and students in getting reacquainted with their roots and their language.

Early career

I began as a lecturer of Foundaion Mathematics. While teaching the subject in 2005, I was in charge of restructuring Foundation Mathematics to align the subject with its Learning Objectives and cater to the degree requirements. In the process, I introduced the Special Concern Program for Maths where I tagged students who had already passed out of the subject with Distinctions or Higher Disntinctions to tutor weaker students currently enrolled in the subject. This along with the Jeopardy and Mathalon competitions, I turned around the fail rate of the subject from 50% fail rates to 12% fail rate steady in just a year.

Moving towards teaching Ethics

I began teaching Ethics courses in 2009. It was a new experience from teaching technical courses in the past. Soon I realised I had a knack for teaching ethics. Students began to respond to my teaching style and now it is one of my most favourite subjects that students absolutely love to enrol into!

23 years and counting...

I teach on average a class size of 100. My class sizes go as high as 300+. I have taught in total 650 students in one semester, spread across three subjects.

Regardless of my class sizes, my teaching quality and my enthusiasm remain at their highest.

I am currenlty Faculty Lead of research cluster Centre for Academic Integrity which is the working arm of ENAI WG Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE, program director for Freshmen, and Assistant Professor of Responsible Management of Information Systems at University of Wollongong in Dubai.

My teaching philosophy states ‘my enthusiasm is key, my students’ brains the lock… let’s get picking!’
